About Sentry

Bad software is everywhere, and we’re tired of it. Sentry is on a mission to help developers write better software faster, so we can get back to enjoying technology.

With more than $217 million in funding and 85,000 organizations that believe we’re on to something, we're building performance and error monitoring tools that help companies like Disney, Microsoft, and Atlassian spend less time fixing bugs and more time building products. If you like to selfishly build things that make your digital life better, come help us build the next generation of software monitoring tools.

About the role

We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer who has a proven history of managing cloud infrastructure at scale. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will work with a multitude of technologies and have a direct impact on how Codecov evolves to handle 100x our current report volume. Our Site Reliability Engineer will be extremely empathy driven, and use that empathy to ensure that Codecov’s software products are reliable, performant, and able to meet the needs of our expanding customer base.

In this role you will

  • Actively take on projects that contribute to Codecov’s overall uptime, reliability, and software deployment best practices
  • Improve Codecov’s use of monitoring and logging tools to ensure internal teams have ever increasing levels of observability into Codecov’s product and deployments
  • Help troubleshoot infrastructure issues in both Codecov’s cloud and on-premises environments
  • Help maintain Codecov’s internal services and ensure they maintain an acceptable level of uptime and reliability
  • Collaborate with Codecov’s security team to ensure that Codecov’s infrastructure complies with modern security standards and best practices

You’ll love this job if you

  • Enjoy working with new cloud technologies and services
  • Are not afraid to dig into system internals during the troubleshooting process
  • Are familiar with various SaaS ecosystems and have taken ownership of a service you once knew nothing about
  • Have broken production and can tell us how you prevented that from happening again

  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Experience with some or all of the following tools we leverage:
    • System Administration: Debian, Docker
    • Cloud: GCP
    • Databases: PostgreSQL
    • Environment Management: Kubernetes, Terraform
    • TCP/HTTP Routing: HAProxy, NGINX, Envoy
  • Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or other generally recognized CI/CD services
  • Experience contributing to software projects using a modern programming language, either professionally or via personal projects. Python is preferred, but any language is sufficient
  • Experience with production monitoring and logging tools, either as an implementer/maintainer of these tools within a software organization (preferred) or an end user. Elastic is preferred
