About this Role

Sentry is looking for our second Content Marketer to create highly visible technical and user narratives that advance our leadership in three main categories: developer tools, agile development, and monitoring and observability. As the second member of our content team, you’ll be at the center of our new acquisition and enablement strategies, expanding Sentry love to new audiences around the world. And if that isn’t enough, you’ll also have the chance to write mildly entertaining jokes!
This is by no means the typical technical content marketing role. Priority number one is to do field reporting with some of the industry’s top engineers and build a compendium of use cases, how-to guides, and workflow hacks; priority number two is to ensure all that content is as interesting and accessible as possible; and priority number three is to turn the rest of the company into an engine for new content ideas.
Your work will be seen by hundreds of thousands of developers on our website and blog, as well as in partner, social, and other traditional and new digital channels that you help create. To get an idea of the range, you’ll work on blog posts like this one and this one, and videos like this one (with the occasional non-technical vid like this one thrown in).
This is a fantastic opportunity for any writer, marketer, or video producer who can convey technical topics in a way that is authentic and engaging, who loves to see the immediate impact of their work on a finished product, and who wants to have an outsized impact on a hyper-growth company. Start thinking of your new hire gif right now. You’ll want it to be good, since you’re joining the team that makes them.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Writing, sourcing, and orchestrating posts for our blog
  • Producing videos and GIFs about customers, use cases, and the product
  • Driving growth with content in platforms like the app, email, and partner channels

You’ll love this job if:

  • You’re excited to help develop a voice for our developer audience, a very discerning group who is easily turned off by marketing
  • You like to own your projects and see them to completion
  • You’re good at (and enjoy) taking deep dives into the technical side of how software works

  • Serious writing or video production chops: work samples required
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in journalism, marketing, video, documentation, or product
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent background
  • Technical understanding of software and ability to communicate to developers
  • Fluency explaining complex concepts in a simple, linear, holistic, and enjoyable way

Bonus/Preferred Skills

  • Background in blogging, podcasts, customer support, or editing
  • Passion for telling stories about people
  • Past work at a fast-paced startup and comfort with self-direction
  • Knowledge of the developer tools ecosystem and/or open source
  • Analytics skills and talent for making magic with large data sets

  • Contribute to an open source product used by tens of thousands of companies
  • Be part of an experienced and renowned team that has worked on some of the world's most popular software products and open source tools
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity
  • 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Flexible working schedule and vacation policy, and real work/life balance
  • Commuter subsidy
  • 401k
  • Learning and development stipend
  • Charitable matching
  • Generous parental leave policy and 529 College Savings Plan
  • Company events (Hack Weeks, All Hands, quarterly social events) and friends and family events
  • Relocation assistance
