About this role

We’re looking for an experienced back-end engineer to help make Sentry a best-in-class crash reporting tool. In this role you'll work with teams to build new product features, help scale Sentry to support our fast-growing user base, and assist in making important back-end technology and implementation decisions.

Sentry is used by tens of thousands of developers, and as part of our small team you'll find countless challenges to grow and succeed. If you have a strong technical background and want to engage publicly with the software development community, we feel this is a fantastic opportunity.

Your responsibilities:
  • Implement back-end services and API endpoints to help drive product initiatives
  • Work with a modern technology stack that includes Python, Rust, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Riak
  • Ensure our platform continues to scale to serve customers
  • Pursue architecture and tooling improvements so that our development team can ship code faster and more confidently
  • Both review code and have your code reviewed by your peers with an insistence on quality and reliability

You’ll love this role if:
  • You want to contribute to open source code every day
  • You’re more interested in technology and tools that work, rather than proving out the latest fads in production
  • You like to understand and make an impact in many places across the product and codebase, rather than focusing solely on a single project
  • You like engaging with the community both online and in person at conferences and meetups

Example projects by members of our team:
