About this role

Sentry’s mission is to empower software development teams to build better products, faster. Our crash reporting platform helps tens of thousands of software teams discover, triage, and resolve production software issues, so they can spend less time debugging and more time building software.
 
We're looking for an intern to be a critical member of our engineering team. This is a 3-month internship in our San Francisco office. Applicants must be currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field at a U.S. university. Our intern would receive support from a personal technical mentor and more importantly contribute to a product that thousands of engineers use and love. If you want to build and improve product features that empower your fellow software developers to do their best work, all while writing open source code, we’d like to talk to you!

As an member of the engineering team at Sentry, you’ll become an integral team member on either our Workflow team or Platform team:
  • Our Workflow team is a cross-functional group of software engineers and designers that is responsible for the end-user operation of Sentry, building the user interfaces that software developers see and touch, and contributing to the APIs and server logic that power those interactions. Most workflow team members are full-stack developers, writing both JavaScript and Python code.
  • Our Platform team (a small team in charge of build new product features, help scale Sentry to support our fast-growing user base, and assist in making important back-end technology and implementation decisions. 
 
Examples of projects our Workflow team has worked on: Examples of projects our Platform team has worked on:
  • Computer Science (or similar) students from Undergraduate, Master’s or Ph.D. programs in the U.S.
  • Experience with Python and/or Javascript, or similar dynamic programming languages (e.g. Ruby, PHP, etc), writing or shipping software as part of internships, personal projects (Github), or coding competitions
  • Passion for developer tools or open source
  • Willing to live in San Francisco for the duration of your internship (we'll help get you here!)
