About the role

We're looking for an Engineer Manager to lead Codecov’s Coverage Team. Engineers on this team contribute to the software systems that are pivotal to Codecov’s core functionality, and are responsible for ensuring that Codecov can continue to deliver a world class developer experience to over a million software developers.

In this role you will

  • Support and motivate career guidance

  • Grow the product and the team in correspondence to company goals
  • Ensure Codecov maintains a high quality engineering bar
  • Be responsible for mentoring and team member promotion criteria
  • Participate in product planning and effective prioritization
  • Serve as the technical backstop of the engineering team, guiding strong technical decision making and helping to resolve technical issues at the decision making layer
  • Be expected to be hands on in the codebase

  • 2+ years experience managing a fully-remote diverse engineering team of at least 5 individuals
  • Proven experience working on a non-trivial software system used by a large number of end users
  • Familiarity with Python, GoLang, Rust or some other system-level programming language
  • A history of interfacing with internal non-engineering teams (e.g., product, design, revenue, etc) to unblock initiatives and accomplish business goals
  • Experience with scoping work, performing resource allocation, and establishing engineering milestones and delivery dates
  • Experience growing technical teams through direct hiring and a strong sense of how to optimize a growing technical team for success
